Dear all,

The UNFF Secretariat is introducing a series of online fora titled "Root Causes of Deforestation".  Through this series we aim at better involving the online community.  We would like to know more about our audience: Who you are?  What are your specific interests?  What type of activities are you involved in?  The online forum will be closely linked to our bimonthly newsletter, and summaries will become available.

Through our first exercise we would like you to express what, in your view, are the root causes of deforestation.  This general discussion will allow us to explore the subject later in a more detailed manner and according to your principal interests.

As a test run, we will post the first online discussion for a one-week period: 22 – 26 May 2006.  We encourage you to sign up and participate.  You may access the forum through the following address: http://esaconf.un.org/~unff .  We look forward to your contributions.
