One day before the Pellets 2006 trade fair opened its gates, the accompanying industry conference, the 6th Pellets Industry Forum already attracted 429 participants. This was 60 percent more than last year, with a strong rise in the proportion of international participants. This development also reflected on the trade fair, where many exhibitors expressed their surprise at the great international interest. “We are pleased about this trend and will intensify the internationalisation of the event next year. The name change to “Interpellets 2007” stresses this commitment,” explains the project leader of Pellets 2006, Horst Dufner.
Growing international interest
Pellets 2006 in Stuttgart from 11th to 13th October attracted strong international interest. On the first day of the trade fair, which saw many of the participants of the 6th Pellets Industry Forum, exhibitors were surprised at the large number of international visitors. Peter Leibold, Managing Director of German Pellets GmbH said: “On the first day of the trade fair we already led many interesting conversations, a large part of which were with visitors from abroad. We did not only speak to people from all over Europe, but also to a delegation from China and some visitors from South Africa.” The Italian company Edilkamin S.P.A. also experienced a lot of international interest: “We spoke to many people from Germany and Italy, but also from France, Ireland, Sweden and Denmark, which is interesting,” says Giorgio Agnoli, Export Manager at Edilkamin. “I like coming to Pellets 2006, it has strong growth potential and is evolving into the leading trade fair for pellets technology.“
Germany’s leading pellets trade fair
For many of the 110 exhibitors, amongst them manufacturers, retailers and suppliers from the entire pellets industry, Pellets 2006 is one of the most important trade fairs. “For us, Pellets 2006 is Germany’s leading trade fair in the area of pellets technology,” says Stephan Biendl, sales coordinator for Germany at FireStixx Holz-Energie GmbH. “To be considered a player in the market, you have to be here,” confirms Friedrich Schöls, Managing Director of Geoplast GmbH.
Industry meeting point for the entire value-added chain in the area of pellets
Pellets 2006 is also an information platform for exhibitors. “I take the opportunity to speak to other market participants and to discuss current developments. The fact that the entire value-added chain is represented here provides a good reflection of current trends and a good idea of future developments in the pellets market,” says Gerhard Selinger, Director Sales & Marketing at Rika Metallwaren GmbH & Co. KG. Herbert Köstenbauer, Managing Director of KWB GmbH, adds: “The range of players from various areas of the value-added chain has become wider. The diversity of exhibitors from the entire pellets industry at Pellets 2006 reflects the industry and its growth.
Record number of participants at the 6th Pellets Industry Forum
The strong interest in pellets technology was also apparent at the 6th Pellets Industry Forum: “This year, we had a record number of 429 participants, which by far exceeded our expectations“, emphasizes Barbara Pilz, project leader of the industry conference. “The subject focus was well received by all participants.” One particularly notable aspect was the high proportion of international participants (28 percent), for whom the presentations were translated by simultaneous interpreters (German/English).
Information platform for new technologies and market trends
Many visitors felt that attending the conference was a must: “We want to find out about new developments in pellets production,“ says Michael Röll of Trocknungsgenossenschaft Weißenberg, a pellets producer. Many participants used the conference as an information platform providing an overview of current market developments. The experts particularly praised the focus on important subjects such as security of supply, new pellets resources, measures to reduce particle matter emissions, and technical innovations.
