As this mission was not carried out the first time Santa Claus Assistants heard cute and funny stories about all the Christmas spruces which were distributed two years ago, as the Austrian Christkindl visited the European Parliament: “Bruce the spruce is now living in our garden in England!” or “Oh, my tree stands already decorated in our house this year!”. From another corner it was reported with pride that one of the two years old Christmas trees is now forming an endemic habitat in Cyprus. This initiative provided yet another opportunity for European Family Forestry to demonstrate its commitment to long-term and sustainable forest management.
And it is again not the first time those stories can be told about a Christmas tree and that the lifecycle of a tree shows the stable long-term tenure of family forest ownership.
CEPF specially thanks the Finnish MEPs Piia-Noora Kauppi and her colleagues Lasse Lehtinen and Kyösti Virrankoski for their support given to the organisation of that activity!
