The company "Svenska Skogsplantor" has grown 140 million saplings for satisfying replacement needs after the storms Gudrun and Per. In Southern Sweden big and strong bare root saplings are needed to withstand competition with the abundant growth of brushwood, grass and other plants in treeless and bare areas.
Sveaskog is Sweden’s largest forest owner. Sveaskog manages some 4.5 million ha of land, including 3.4 million of productive forest land. This corresponds to 15% of forest land in Sweden. Using its own raw material assets and through purchases and exchanges, Sveaskog is a leading supplier of sawlogs, pulpwood and biofuels. Sveaskog is wholly owned by the Swedish state and has approximately 800 employees.
