It's believed the majority of the countryside fires in the south and west of the country over the weekend were started deliberately.
Firefighters in Galway have been struggling to bring the numerous forest and bog fires under control.
The Galway fire service says the last of their firefighters returned after 2am this morning after putting out the majority of the fires.
A spokesperson says significant damage was caused to forests, bogs and the surrounding countryside.
The fire-service also dealt with a house fire at Rossaviel in Connamara shortly after 4am this morning but no one was injured.
