The first group of hundreds of wildebeests crossed Mara River from Tanzania to Kenya at the weekend as a number of tourists flocked the area to witness the annual migration.
More wild animals are also expected to cross the crocodile infested river from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park in the next three weeks.
And lions in the expansive park are not disappointed as they lie in wait for easy prey.
Narok County Council says it expects about 95,000 tourists to visit Maasai Mara Game Reserve before the migration season ends
The animals are expected to return to Tanzania in October.
Most tourists are from UK, US, Germany and Asia.
However, proprietors of tourist establishment in the area have asked the Government to improve the poor state of roads leading to the park.
They said Lemek-Mara river bridge should be rehabilitated urgently.
They urged the Government to hasten the construction works on the Mai Mahiu/Narok and Narok/Sekenani gates - Mara roads.
The council has, however, graded roads inside the park.
