The pine forest in Tervete has no equal in Latvia or anywhere in the Baltics. The old pine park, despite the many storms that have passed over it, is still standing tall, and it is an awesome sight to see. Some of the trees are nearly 300 years old.
Tervete is an ancient place, with a wealth of history. There are three mighty castle mounds, castle ruins, and locations of ancient settlements and burial grounds to remind us of this.
Tervete is proud of its local daughter, the writer Anna Brigadere. A museum devoted to the beloved author’s life, “Spridiąi”, is open to visitors. The museum and its surroundings have been preserved in the appearance which they had when Brigadere was alive.
The forest landscape park of Tervete is constantly being improved and upgraded, and it is a favorite for many tourists.
The “Elf Forest” is being reconstructed. The sculptors K. Kugra and R. Kalniną carved the elves from wood, and now the Elf family is building a whole city. Several Elf buildings are already up on both sides of Elf Road. The children’s area of the park is also being upgraded.
