The Portuguese Millennium BCP Bank, along with Bucharest’s City Hall are building the tallest Christmas tree in Europe. The tree will be placed in Piata Unirii park. The people from Bucharest noticed the gigantic metal skeleton from 3 weeks ago, when the first pieces were put together. Bringing the materials needed for this project took 2 months with the help of 25 trucks. A team of 300 men are working on the building process of the tree..
The christmas tree will reach a height of 76 meters (approximately a 21 stories building), will have a 26 meter diameter, will weight 290 tons and will be decorated with 2 million light bulbs. This bank was involved in other similar activities in Lisbon and Warsaw.
The Millennium tree will start shining on December 1 and will remain alive until January 6 2008. Through out this period Unirii park will host events and performances to celebrate Bucharest and the Christmas spirit.
Millennium Bank entered the Romanian banking a month ago, by simultaneously opening 39 branches in Bucharest and 8 in other important cities in our country.
