The Forestry Directorates handle national supports and supports from the European Union. The Central Agricultural Office pays the national supports, while in case of EU supports the Forestry Directorates provide the professional controlling activity, and the paying is the duty of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In relation to the handling of national supports, the Forestry Directorates have done the followings:
Paying the supports for the maintaining of park forests, public-welfare forests, in the amount of 300 million forints, for 97 applicants.
During the supporting of forest railroads, 11 applications won altogether 200 million forints.
The supporting of the development of private forest management was approximately 400 million forints.
The claim started as a civil initiative draws its source on the offerings from the 1 percent of the personal income tax. Nearly 50 applications arrived for the limited 216 million forints in the budget of 2007, which – after the checking made by the Directorates - were proposed to the evaluation committee made up by the representatives of the civil organizations and the Forestry Directorates.
Until the end of the year 1.4 billion forints were paid for supporting the reforestation programs, in which 4000 smallholders were interested.
This year 828 million forints were paid for finishing the afforestations financed by national sources.
Supports from the European Union
Firstly the support of the afforestation of agricultural areas became available from the EU-provided supports. This form of support was to be claimed between 2004-2006, and it provides support for maximum 20 years for the costs of afforestation, and for replacing the lost agricultural income due to the afforestation.
Between 2004 and 2006, during the National Rural Development Program, 4500 payment applications arrived for the afforestation supports, and approx. 9000 hectares was inspected on site.
Based on the inspections and the handling of applications, the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency paid nearly 12 billion forints in 2007.
2000 applications arrived for the New Hungary Rural Development Program, altogether for 10 600 hectares – this is the two-third of the applications handed in last year. This can be imputed to the less advantageous supporting conditions, and also to the late publication of the supporting regulation.
Nearly 15 applications arrived for the brand new claim: subsidizing the arboreal energetic plantations, this is far from the planned area, but it can be imputed to the novelty of the claim. In the future multiplying of the interest is expected.
