Invited are South Korea, China, Australia, India, Mexico, Indonesia and Brazil, which will attend an expanded gathering on global warming for the G8 summit, and eight African nations, including South Africa and Tanzania, which will attend an expanded meeting on African development.
This is the first time South Korea will have attended the G8 summit. The global warming meeting will discuss carbon dioxide emission targets to reduce greenhouse gases. The meeting on African development will mainly discuss ways to fight poverty and support economic growth in Africa.
Japan decided to invite the leaders of 15 countries including South Korea to discuss global warming on the sidelines of the G8 summit to be held in Toyako, Hokkaido, in July, Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura said on Tuesday.
