The Forestry Department of FAO is making another attempt to obtain from you information on non-commercial software developed and used for forest management activities in the tropics. By "non-commercial" it is meant, software developed by your service or government, an NGO, agency, project and/or by a research and academic institution not for commercial purpose or for sale at a profit, but one that is free to use by interested parties, within or outside the country.
Thus we have designed a new, "user-friendly" and more simplified questionnaire (as compared to the previous one) to make it easier for you to provide us with such information. The information that you facilitate to us will be used to publish a "Global Directory of Non-Commercial Software for Forest Management" with due editorial credit to the owner of the software.
Therefore, if you and/or your organization have developed such software, and would like to share with us information about it, we encourage you to fill in the simplified questionnaire on line and return it to us by June 30, 2008.
