According to DEPV’s estimations, the end-consumer price for pellets (stable for a year) remains at €180,-/ton in Germany. ”The reasons for this are clearly the enlarged production capacities“, DEPV Manager Martin Bentele stated, referring to an actual survey of the DEPV among the German pellet manufacturers. According to the survey, the German pellet production rose by 120% to 325,000 tons during the first quarter of 2008.
Due to an increase in the wood pellets production capacities in Germany, prices tend to remain stable or even decline. The German Pellets Association (Deutscher Energie Pellet Verband/DEPV) counts on a production capacity of about 1.3 million tons of pellets in Germany for this year.
