Buenos Aires - The President of the Argentine Republic, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner,
accepted to become the official ambassador of the XIII WFC 2009 within the
frame of the announcement of the renewal of law 25080 for the promotion of
planted forests, which took place in San Fernando, Buenos Aires province. In the presence of foresters and inhabitants of the Delta, the President
accepted with pleasure the petition of the 2009 WFC Organizing Committee
President and National Secretary for Agriculture, Eng. Carlos Cheppi, to
represent and communicate the most transcendental international event within
its specialty, which will take place in Buenos Aires from 18 to 23 October,
in all her official trips.
"For the Argentines it is very important that the President take the
leadership in the communication of the Congress. We will receive over 4,000
people from different countries in the world, with the challenge of
exhibiting the potential and the opportunities of Argentina in the forestry
sector, within other aspects". "Regarding planted forests, the activity
generates 500 thousand jobs and represents exports for around 1,000 million
dollars" stated the 2009 WFC General Secretary, Biol. Leopoklo Montes.
