In the frame of a “timber action plan” the minimum proportion of wood used in new buildings, for example, is to be increased significantly and also become a legal requirement. In addition to this, the present restrictions existing in France in the use of wood and wood-based insulation material in the exterior cladding segment are to be lifted as well. The proportion of wood consumed in the French renewable energy segment is to be raised as well from the current level of 9 % to 23 % in 2020.
According to the French president Nicolas Sarkozy, the use of timber in the French building sector is to be raised tenfold by 2020.
