June 30, 2010 - Since global markets for the pellet production might
grow from 12 million tons of annual production in 2010 to over 100
millions tons in 2010, national pellets associations from Austria,
Finland, France, Germany Hungary, Italy Portugal, Spain, Sweden and
Switzerland have pooled together to create a common European platform-
the European Pellet Council. The European Biomass Association AEBIOM will be in charge of the organization of the European Pellet Council, which will have the following main objectives: communicating the contributions of the European pellet branch to the overall use of renewable energy in Europe, improving the EU legislation to inaugurate a rapid growth of the market, as well as functioning as a platform to ease the change over from a niche product to a major contributor to Europe’s energy demand.
