Under the name of Hungarian Forest Owners’ Association, a new organisation took wing on 17th December 2004. On the statutory meeting chairman Pál Telegdy, forestry engineer addressed the assembly.
Participants had said to the press before the election of functionaries and the acceptance of the agenda that they failed in creating a real and authentic association for the representation of private forest owners’ and growers’ interests. No support was given in legal matters, in game damage and wood theft or in treating illegal logging by organisations such as Hungarian Forestry Association. Another big problem is that the national wood market is bully and sales are disorderly. Multinational companies do not regard Hungarian growers equal partners, nor home holdings do so. Some participants aimed at hunting, which is a special field of interest representation. Leaseholders of hunting areas do not pay the rents or for game damage. The most painful point is the lowest limit per hunting areas, which is 3 thousand ha. Cadge hunting is also among the problems to be solved.
Megosz chief secretary, Dr János Sárvári addressed the meeting wishing success in its work. Magosz president gave voice to his satisfaction with the objective of the association, namely that it was for something and not against it. Because of budgetary cuts, there have been strained situations in the agrarium that is why cooperation is essential, he added.
Mr Telegdy pointed out that cooperation with other organisations of the branch is almost obligatory, for it is laid down in the statutes.
Functionaries were elected by balloting as follows:
National Association President Mr Pál Telegdy
Honorary President Károly Borkó, MP and forest owner
Vice Presidents:
István Asztalos (leader of the memorable spring demonstrations in Szabolcs- Szatmár –Bereg county)
László Csordás Nagy (Forestry Cooperative, Monor)
Tibor Bene (forest owner, Gödöllő)
Dr István Darabos (forestry engineer and manager, Jánossomorja)
Lajos Hollósi (Bicske Forest Holding Co.)
Dr Árpád Kovács (wildlife manager, Komárom-Esztergom county)
Members of the Supervisory Board: András Kriskó and László Lados (heads) and Mrs P. Ötvös,
Ethical Committee:László Juhász( president), Lajos Szabolcs Takács, Judit Viosz and Béla Utassy (members).
Mr Telegdy thanked for confidence, and said he would strive for representing forest owners interests to his best so that Hungarian forest owners could find satisfaction in their work as it is western European countries. As an association, safeguarding interests and protecting rights, it will not exclude dual memberships. The improvement of rules and regulations on forestry is a target of the association as well as clean sweeping disorders in the branch.
They are making efforts to divide territories. The president called upon participants to start local organisations and growers unions. Besides the foundation fee, the annual membership is 3 thousand HUF per natural person , which is to rise annually, and per ha. by 200 HUF.
