China and Japan European Wood Initiative (EWI) is a joint promotion program for wood promotion organisations in Europe, representing the wood and wood products industries of Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden. EWI has agreed to promote wood in China and Japan. EWI has been mandated to represent CEI-Bois in standardization matters in China and Japan.
Objective
EWI’s overall objective is to stimulate and increase the total consumption of wood, wood based product and wood systems in China and Japan. EWI will work to eliminate strategic barriers - ministerial/authority related barriers as well as general commercial barriers.
Mission
The mission is to promote the benefits of using wood, wood products and wood systems. Primary target audiences are politicians, civil servants, relevant authorities and those influencing public opinion. Secondary target audiences are consumers, trade, industry and specifiers.
Strategy
EWI will achieve its strategy by forming a co-ordinated European initiative (“one face, one voice”) with joint resources to promote wood, wood products and wood systems in general. EWI promotes the use of wood generically regardless of origin, based on sustainable forestry.
