Gypsy moth infection is spreading through Hungary’s forests. This year the invasion may do even more harm to the forests than it did last year.
Boglár László the government’s spokeswoman said that a further 125 million HUF have been set aside for protection. It will add to the initially targeted support of 100 million HUF. Self-governances of the mainly affected counties of Veszprém, Somogy and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén can apply for the the still missing amount needed for protection and charge their vis major accounts for the sources.The spokesperson of the goverment stated that presently 280 thousand ha are being infected, and according to prediction and forecast gypsy moth may cause a more intensive damage than it did last year.
