The Viken Forest Owners’ Association has concluded a three year contract with the Oslo airport Gardemoen concerning the annual supply of circa 51 GWh of bio-energy. That is the equivalent of about 27 000 cubic meters of wood in the form of chips.The district heating company Hafslund Fjernvarme AS will expand its central boiler plant at the airport by 6 MW. The plant already supplies 7 MW, which means that from 2006 the total capacity will be 13 MW.
Viken will use locally produced raw materials from the area around the airport for its supply. Wood chip production will take place at a plant close to the airport.
