A new drive to "welcome" motorcyclists to Scotland has been launched by tourist organisation VisitScotland.
The scheme will give guidance to the tourism industry on the services it can offer to improve the holiday experience for motorbike enthusiasts.
VisitScotland's Peter Lederer said: "We can deliver a high-quality product to compete with the best in the world."
Minister for Parliament Margaret Curran said Scotland was a "fantastic country for motorbike touring".
VisitScotland has worked with the fighter pilot brother of Hollywood film star Ewan McGregor to launch its new drive to promote Scotland as a top destination for motorbike touring .
Border guides
Scotlandbybike.com was co-founded by Colin McGregor and experienced biker Stewart Buchanan, with a view to urging tourists from around the world to see Scotland on two wheels.
Star Wars star McGregor toured the world on a motorcycle with his friend Charley Boorman, who has also backed the new initiative.
He said there was "no better place" to ride.
"Ewan McGregor and I went around the globe on motorbikes but you're hard pushed to beat the freedom, scenery, history and welcome you receive touring Scotland," he said.
McGregor and Boorman completed their epic 20,000-mile motorbike journey around the world last July.
For three months the friends travelled from London through Europe, Russia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Alaska, and across North America, suffering near-fatal crashes and being detained by border guards along the way.
