European Timber Council Photo Contest
Reflections of Wood in the Eyes are as individual and emotional as the people who look at nature‘s own material in all its beauty. Quentin Le Guen-Geffroy from Norway and his Sight of Wood is the winner of the photo competition Wood in Your Eyes, arranged by the European Wood Magazine Building Europe.
With the majority of the votes of nine cooperating European wood organisations, Quentin Le Guen-Geffroy’s highly emotional photo of a sauna was chosen as the favourite of the contest. And this made Quentin Le Guen-Geffroy the winner of a professional quality Nikon D 70 kit for digital photography.
No 1: Sauna – Quentin Le Guen-Geffrouy, Norway
More than 300 pictures of wood in all colours and forms and from all across Europe were sent in to the competition, arranged for the readers of this year’s Building Europe magazine. In a first selection eighteen of the pictures were short-listed and thereafter a winner was designated.
“Wood is a remarkable material that can be captured in endless ways,” says Jan Söderlind, Managing Director at the Nordic Timber Council and publisher of the Building Europe magazine. “The range of pictures sent in for the competition was absolutely stunning. Everything from phenomenal nature sceneries and wood carving to modern, innovative constructions have been in the subject of photographers when immortalizing their vision of wood.”
