The very first number of the scientific journal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has come to light so as to widespread results of Hungarian sciences and develop connections. Appearance of the above periodical is not only an event in science policy but an endeavour of national strategy. It will remain the task of the coming generation- grateful or not- to assess its importance.
This publication by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has also been sponsored by the Hungarian Forest Research Institute, Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Wood Sciences and Institute of Wildlife Management at the University of West Hungary, and Sopron Scientists’ Society of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
The foreign (English, German) publication gives new, outstanding results in Hungarian research in forestry, hunting, wood and environmental sciences.
It is the editors’ aim to send the publication to about 200 related international institutions and to make it accessible to Hungarian scientists and researchers and to the public. Their objective is to further promote the reputation of Hungarian sciences.
The first edition has papers on dendrology, silviculture, genetics, ornithology, biophysics and wood sciences. The Editor in chief of the periodical is Csaba Mátyás, (Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences), head of institute, at the University of West Hungary.
