The announcement that Senator the Hon Eric Abetz will become the new Minister for Forestry has been well received by NAFI.
NAFI today welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement that Senator the Hon Eric Abetz will become the new Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation.

“Senator Abetz is a strong supporter of the forestry industry. As a Senator for Tasmania, Senator Abetz has wide knowledge of this major industry and its benefits for the Australian community,” said NAFI’s Chief Executive Officer Catherine Murphy.
“His appointment has been very well received by the industry. His knowledge and
experience of issues affecting forestry in Tasmania will be extremely valuable in dealing with national level issues,” she said.
“Senator Abetz will be responsible for an industry that employs more than 130,000 Australians and is worth $18 billion per annum to the Australian economy.
“I look forward to working closely with Senator Abetz and his staff,” she said.
