Last year the costs for tending private forests increased somewhat in comparison with 2004 and amounted to 170 million euro. Forest owners paid two thirds, i.e. somewhat over 100 million euro. State subsidies covered about one third. Most of the work consisted of tending seeding stands and young forests on an area of about 130 000 hectares. In this respect set targets were almost attained. Like in previous years, reforestation was carried out on an area of just under 100 000 hectares.
As regards maintenance of forest roads, set targets were exceeded, which facilitates timber transports, in particular in case winters will be mild also in the future.
