Thursday 16 - Friday 17 June | 08:30 - 17:00
Dear Colleague,
Chatham House would like to invite you to the Illegal Logging Update and Stakeholder Consultation meeting, taking place on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 June 2016. Please note that, due to refurbishment work, the meeting will not be taking place at Chatham House this year but will be held at The Crystal in London.
This will be the 26th in our series of illegal logging update meetings, and we anticipate more than 250 participants from civil society, industry and governments around the world. The meeting will address a range of emerging issues central to discussions on the trade in illegal timber, including progress with the VPAs, next steps for FLEGT, legislative developments and enforcement to reduce the illegal timber trade, improving transparency and tackling corruption in the sector, and strengthening the legality of mineral and agricultural supply chains. There will also be two sessions which take a regional focus: the first will explore the progress of the VPA in Laos, while the second will discuss human rights issues in Honduras. Please find attached an outline agenda for this event.
We anticipate a high level of interest in this meeting, and so we encourage you to register below as soon as possible to ensure a place. We are pleased to inform you that this year's event will be conducted in English, Mandarin, Spanish and French with simultaneous interpretation available for all languages.
We encourage organisations to limit the number of representatives to two people in order to maximize the diversity of the participants.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
With best wishes,
Alison Hoare,
