31-08-2015 - According to travelo.hu, the renew of the National Blue Circle, which is the most popular tourist route of Hungary, is nearing the end, the last elements of the HUF 2.7 billion project will be handed over in September – communications associate of the Hungarian Hiker Association said at a press conference in Pecs on Monday. Gabriella Szeki pointed out that National Blue Circle was created from the unification of the three blue tours, and thanks to the EU-funded developments it became one of Europe’s most modern and longest, 2550m-long hiking path. She highlighted: under the works, the roads had been cleaned, signs had been repainted; 230 objects including lookouts, bridges, tourist homes, rest areas had been restored, stamping places had been renewed and seals had been replaced. She added that 10 thousand boards help the tourists’ navigation with information. The making of a mobile application became possible by the GPS-based assessment of the blue circle’s trail and by the recording of the data into the Hikers Spatial Information System. Gabriella Szeki said, as part of a project, a service network had been built, the 350 hosts, catering units, and bike services give a discount for hikers showing hiker cards.
Istvan Ripszam, Deputy Chief Executive of Mecsekerdo Zrt. emphasized, in the context of boots tourism, there was a development of a similar magnitude 40-50 years ago last time. He expressed hope that at least as great renaissance of tourism begins as it did in the 1970s and 1980s – MTI said.
