This how they write about themselves
Welcome to Sean and Carl’s bike trip site! We are Carl Kristoff and Sean Macalister and we are biking across Canada this summer to help raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. The inspiration behind this trip was our love of biking and our relationship with Carl’s brother Andrew. Andrew was diagnosed with MS 3 years ago and it has been hard watching him endure this challenge in his life. MS is a life altering disease and it has definitely altered his life. Our goal is to help find a cure for MS with the money that we raise so that people like Andrew can live a normal life.
I have always had enthusiasm for sports and a passion for nature. I have played on several ice hockey, roller hockey, and soccer teams throughout my life. I have always enjoyed hiking, camping, biking, and being outside. My interest in the outdoors has led me to pursue my Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resource Management at the University of British Columbia. I was raised in by my Deaf parents, Brenda and Ian, and my younger sister, Mandy. My sister is currently running track and cross country for the University of Idaho. Outside school and sports, I volunteer with the Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver. My Little Brother Tyler and I have been matched for almost three years. I also hold a part-time job as a Tim Horton’s supervisor on the weekends. The rest of the time I can be found with my girlfriend, Shannon, who has been very supportive in my dream to bike across Canada, although she does wish I could spend the summer with her. I also have a close group of encouraging friends who are always there when I need them.
I am a fun loving person who tries to get the most out of everything I take part in. Like Sean, I too have always had enthusiasm for sports and a passion for nature. I enjoy many activities including camping, biking, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, hockey and soccer. Some of my greatest memories are playing sports or camping with my friends. Throughout high school, one of my favorite classes was woodworking, which has led me into the Wood Products Processing program in the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia. I will be finishing my degree in April 2007 and I am eager to start my career after graduation. I was born and raised in Burnaby by my parents Gail and Larry and have two older brothers, Darren and Andrew. Darren is a Structural Draftsman and Andrew is an Electrician and both of them got their degrees at BCIT. Currently, Andrew is not working due to his condition. My family and friends have been extremely supportive of me thoughout my life and are now encouraging me on this Cross Canada Bike Trip. This is a big challenge that I am determined to complete with Sean.
