The European Commission has launched a call for tender for a study on the development and marketing of non-marketed forest products and services.
The main objective of this study is to acquire summarised information on the state-of-the-art in the field of valuation methods and compensation mechanisms for non-market forest goods and services.
The study seeks to explore how far the results and methodologies of scientific work in the respective fields can be put into practice.
The study is meant to form the basis for discussions and policy conclusions on the feasibility of establishing market mechanisms and economic instruments aiming to encourage the supply of valuable non-market forest goods and services which are of public interest in different social and environmental contexts.
The maximum budget attributed to this study is EUR 150 000. The deadline for submitting offers expires on 2 October 2007.
The Commission intends to award the contract before the end of 2007, following the evaluation of the offers received. The contractor will have to carry out the study within 10 months from the signature of the contract.
