Nordic wood industries announced figures of strong growth this year. In
Norway the production of lumber in January-September 2010 grew 15 per
cent compared to year 2009. The production of conifer-sawn timber grew 8
per cent in Sweden and as much as 27 per cent in Finland. Between January and September 2010 the production of sawn timber in Norway was around 1,6 million m3. The production grew 15 per cent from 2009.
In Sweden in January-September 2010 the production was around 12,7 million m3. The production compared to year 2009 was 8 per cent higher.
The production of conifer saw timber in Finland in the same time period was around 7,2 million m3, which equals a growth of 27 per cent compared to the year 2009.
The amount of exported lumber grew in Norway and Finland. For Norway the growth was 5 per cent and for Finland 15 per cents. In Sweden the export level of sawn timber laid 7 per cent below the level of the year 2009.
