This year, 66 percent of the Swedish forest owners state that they are satisfied with the profitability of forestry. The corresponding figure for 2009 was only 50%. Most happy they were apparently in Norrland, where the 71% have expressed great satisfaction with the situation, according to Skogsland (Swedish forestry paper).
The figures are from the annual Swedish Forest Survey, prepared on behalf of the LRF Konsult and Swedbank. It has been years since Swedish forest owners have given such good feedback in this survey.
- This is very positive considering that we have experienced a sharp recession. The reason is partly the high prices of both saw logs and pulpwood, "said Gabriel Morner in LRF Konsult.
Future optimism is also on top. Although the prices of Swedish forest properties have increased dramatically in recent years, 72% of the owners believe that this growth will continue. Last year this figure was 62%.
