On September 8, 2016 CEF Board adopted the Strategy and the Action Program of CEF. The main objectives oft he Strategy oft he Council of European foresters for the next period are:
Support the interests oft he foresters, members of CEF at national, European and global level
Representing the member organizations and the foresters to the international institutions like the United Nations Organization, Council of Europe, European Parliament, European Council, European Commission and others in relation to forestry, natural environment, bioenergy reserves, wood and biomass and labor relations.
Promoting the provisions oft he Forester's Declaration for their recognition and implementation by the national and international institutions.
Attracting new members to the Council ofEuropean Foresters
For the accomplishment of these objectives, the Presidency and the Board of CEF will continue to maintains contacts with the international institutions in Europe, both the institutions of the Council of Europe and the European Union institutions and also will initiate contact with foresters or organizations of foresters from countries that are not represented in the Council of European Foresters.
At the Council of Europe level, CEF will strengthen its observer status accredited in the FOREST EUROPE process and will be involved in the forums that CEF is part of, in order to finalize the Joint Action Plan of the organizations involved in the FOREST EUROPE process, for the resumption and completion of the process of developing the Legally Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe, an initiative of the ministers responsible for forests in 46 European countries, congregated in the FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference.
At EU level CEF will continue to participate in the developing process oft he forest strategies and policies of the EU institutions, will intensify contacts with the European Parliament, with the European Commission and the Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development, so that regulations and recommendations made by these institutions to be adapted to the realities of the forestry sector of the European Union and also to be adapted to the forestry sector from each country member of the European Union. In this regard, CEF will participate in activities that will be organized by the institutions of the Council of Europe, European Union and United Nations Organization.
In order to support to the EU institutions the proposals and suggestions on the regulations, recommendations and decisions of the European Commission for forestry, CEF will initiate meetings with the European Commission, the Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development and DG AGRI. In this respect, it is proposed a meeting of a CEF delegation with a delegation of the Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development in early November 2016 at a date that will be agreed with the Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development.
Also, CEF will organize a series of international events: symposiums on topics of forestry, open meetings of the CEF Board, exhibitions of photography, graphics and book on forestry issues and under the CEF aegis, international sports competitions.
Since September 8, 2016, in Baile Felix - Oradea, Romania, it is organized a symposium with the theme "Management of forests in European countries", the meeting of CEF Board, an exhibition of photography, graphics and book on forestry issues, the international sport competition "Consilva Cup". Starting with 2016, CEF will award the following distinctions:
- Diploma of Merit and the honor "FIDELIS SILVARUM" - to the personalities with special professional merits in the forestry sector and to support the activity of CEF and AGFEE;
- Diploma of Excellence and the honor "FIDELIS SILVARUM" - to the personalities who have performed exceptionally activity in the forestry sector and to the personalities who, through their decision can contribute to the maintenance and development of forests and forestry sector by developing forest strategies and forest policies at national or international level.
