Capacity Building Natural Resources Management Specialist
The Integrated Land Water and Biodiversity theme consists of a growing portfolio of institutional change projects addressing issues such as improved natural resources governance, competing claims on common pool resources and learning programmes on adaptive management approaches. Institutional change requires highly interactive forms of knowledge generation and learning where policy makers, practitioners and researchers can engage in dialogue and forge collective action. The CD&IC Programme designs, facilitates and develops capacities for such multi-stakeholder processes.

We are seeking a person to contribute to this area of work who has a strong background in participatory methods for natural resources management, rural development and is able to link local level developments to (inter) national policy and strategy dialogue. The current project portfolio requires the candidate to have extensive experience and a keen interest in learning and capacity building methods. The successful candidate will be responsible for further development of a portfolio of projects, partnerships for various learning programmes and for contributing to the strategic development of this area of work.
The new staff will join a dynamic team of 35 Programme staff members, twelve of whom are directly engaged in the land water and biodiversity theme. (S)he will also cooperate closely with research staff from across Wageningen UR. Programme staff are expected to be free to travel for up to 3 months per year. The position offers an exciting opportunity for development experts interested in the linkage between research and knowledge institutions and real world innovation and change processes.

Requirements
-University Graduate
-Relevant academic qualifications in development studies, natural resources management or economics, forestry or nature management. Proven experience and track record in training and learning programme design and delivery.
-At least 10 years relevant work experience, including long term assignments overseas
-Proven interest and affinity with international development cooperation and experience working in countries with transitional or developing economies
-A good understanding of participatory approaches to development, an ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder processes and experience with (policy ) advisory services.
-A good international network with a proven ability to mobilise resources and effectively manage collaborative projects
-An ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing is essential
-Excellent English language skills; French and/or Spanish language skills will be an added benefit
- Ability to learn fast and work effectively in a team environment

The focus of the Programme is on five themes; livelihood security and development policy; sustainable agriculture as a driver for development; value chains for equitable and sustainable development; integrated land, water and biodiversity management; and innovation and learning processes for societal change

Conditions of employment

Estimated maximum salary per month: eur 4500 - 5000
Salaryscale 12. Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 1 year, possible extension
Maximum hours per week: 36
