The Timber Transport Conference is heading North!
#timbertransport2018
For the first time we are holding the conference in the Highlands where the timber harvest is forecast to increase by 50% over the next two decades.
We are also in the constituency of Fergus Ewing, the Scottish Government's Cabinet Secretary responsible for forestry who has agreed to address the conference.
Speakers
Processors will talk about the challenge of sourcing timber over a fragile road network
The Highland Council will focus discuss the management of the longest length of minor road in the UK
The regulators will inform us on the extent to which our current infrastructure should influence where we plant new forests.
We will be talking about safe haulage, safe forest roads and learning about some of the recent projects to improve transport infrastructure.
We shall also have a look down the road at the future of haulage; smart highways, platooning lorries – where will technology take us?
We are very grateful to Volvo for sponsoring the conference, helping to keep costs down and to James Jones & Sons Ltd who will be providing one of their Volvo lorries
