The Forestry Commission is advising members of the public not to visit Cannock Chase Forest today (Thursday 18th January) because of the high winds. District Forester, Jason Maclean, says:
“The strong winds means there is a danger of falling branches, which could cause serious injuries to anyone walking or cycling in the Forest. We know that many people enjoy using the Forest but we would urge everyone to stay away today for their own safety.”
The Forestry Commission has closed its car parks in Cannock Chase Forest and the visitor centre at Birches Valley has also been shut.
The situation will be reviewed tomorrow.
